neighborhood guide: alton
A controversial pick…
While Alton is *technically* Palm Beach Gardens, it’s a stone’s throw from Jupiter and one of the largest new construction developments in the area.
Between the Alton neighborhood and the Alton Town Center shopping complex, Alton has decidedly changed the character of Donald Ross in the last few years.
The community itself is large and carefully planned with a character all its own.
PROS:
- New construction! These homes are brand new or first resale and they were built with all the luxury upgrades (impact windows, CBS construction, high-end finishes)
- everything in the community is new and feels luxe, like the clubhouse, fitness center, and zero-entry pool
- homes range in size from townhouses to 5+ bedroom single family
- you can easily golf cart/walk/drive to the Alton Town Center
- there are still completely new homes that have never been lived in available
CONS:
- this is a zero lot line community meaning homes lie directly on the boundary of their property—you’re going to be VERY close to your neighbor
- lots are also very tight giving the community a more urban feel
- because everything is new (including the landscaping) the community lacks shade and, well…character
- there is no security gate
- the main thoroughfare (Alton Road) is an ambulance route for the hospital that is currently being built just south of Donald Ross
I’ve seen this neighborhood elicit strong reactions because of its style of construction—and I also know people who love living there! What do you think?
