neighborhood guide: jupiter farms
If you’re looking for wide open spaces…
Jupiter Farms is for you.
Not only do these homes come with far more land than most of the rest of Jupiter, you can also find horse stables, lakes on property, places to keep animals—the possibilities are endless.
Let’s jump right in:
PROS:
- LAND! If you’re looking for a property on acres or with special features, the Fames will likely have it
- No HOA: these homes are ungoverned which means you won’t pay an HOA fee or have to deal with any rules
- You can find large homes and special features you won’t find elsewhere like horse barns, room to keep animals, boat storage, workshops—I even saw an airplane hangar once!
- while the Farms aren’t right in the heart of Jupiter, it only takes a few minutes to get to shops, restaurants, and the beach
- you won’t be staring in your neighbor’s windows in the Farms, but they also have a great sense of community (their golf cart trick or treating is legendary!)
CONS:
- Because there are no HOAs, there are also no community amenities like pool, clubhouse, security, etc
- Higher taxes: Palm Beach County assesses taxes based partially on the size of your lot, so you’ll pay more here
- More maintenance: mowing 3 acres is more work than mowing .25 acres!
- while you’re still close to town, the lack of sidewalks and immediate access to shops can feel more rural (which can be a good thing, depending on what you’re looking for!)
- you’re a little farther from everything—whereas getting to the beach might take you 15 mins from Abacoa, it’ll take you closer to 30 from the Farms
